CorVent™ by Coridea
“Before COVID-19, this would be a 3 year endeavor at minimum, and we are accomplishing it in less than 3 months.”– Coridea Dir. Of Engineering, Edward Ruppel
The CorVent™ Single-Use Ventilator is the first single-patient ventilator enabling rapid and affordable deployment with superior infection control. The device complements existing ventilator products when the number of patients exceed hospital supply or underserved markets require a cost-effective solution. Its simple, streamlined functionality is optimized for long-term storage without ongoing maintenance requirements.
Edward Ruppel added: “The first days of the pandemic made it abundantly clear to our Team that traditional ventilators and their high-cost service model are simply unfit to deal with mass-casualty situations. This provided us with the vision to fundamentally change the economics and safety of ventilation. Creating a device that protected both the patient and provider, which could be pulled off the shelf 10 years later and simply work, is the only way to effectively fight this virus and the next one.”
Building a ventilator from the ground up is no small feat, it is a life-saving and life-preserving device that requires conformance to numerous rigid standards for performance. Coridea is developing CorVent™ as a continuous support ventilator, meaning it can safely and effectively support patients for the entirety of their hospital stay.
